Mentor for ApplicAid

(🇩🇪 for German applicants)
Studying at university is a significant privilege. And I once thought that would be out of reach for me. Receiving scholarships not only enabled me to complete my Bachelor’s degree in Germany, but also opened the door to studying abroad.
If you are worried about financing your studies (whether in Germany or internationally) and feel intimidated by applying for competitive scholarships, I strongly encourage you to reach out to ApplicAid.
At ApplicAid, we support prospective applicants from underrepresented and underprivileged backgrounds through one-on-one mentoring. Together, we identify suitable programs, refine motivation letters, prepare for interviews, and strengthen applications overall.
Through my experience as both a mentor at ApplicAid and an application assessment coordinator for the Hans Böckler Foundation, I have seen that for many applicants, the main barrier is not ability but confidence.
If you are unsure whether you are “good enough” for a scholarship, apply anyway. You might succeed and even if you don’t, the process costs nothing and provides valuable experience for future applications.

Brain Awareness Week 2026

I was delighted to volunteer at the Brain Awareness Week stand IdentIBrain at the University of Galway. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with students and share a bit of the excitement of exploring the brain.
Students from a variety of schools visited the stand and took part in a challenge to identify different animal brains from images. I was genuinely impressed by how well they performed.

I’m already looking forward to taking part in Brain Awareness Week again next year.
